The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge just had to say goodbye to their beloved family pet. Sweet Lupo has been around for every major family event including the birth of all their children and he will forever warm their hearts.

Prince William and Duchess Kate's Dog Lupo

Many countrymen lovingly referred to the Duke and Duchesses dog as "Prince Lupo" who was frequently seen at public events with the family, such as outings or polo matches.

Lupo the cocker spaniel joined Prince William and Duchess Kate's family the year before their first son Prince George was born and was even a part of their first official family portrait when George came home from the hospital.

According to People, the Duke and Duchess first acquired Lupo to help Kate with her lengthy-time apart from Prince William who had to deploy for the air force for long stretches of time.

The entire family bonded with sweet and friendly Prince Lupo including their brothers Prince Harry and James Middleton. James, a known dog lover, took to social media to share a heart-warming tribute to Lupo.

James Middleton wrote, "It is with great sadness that Lupo, the beloved dog of my sister Catherine and her family has passed away. Lupo was the son of Ella, brother to Zulu, Inka & Luna. He was 9 years old."

"Nothing can ever prepare you for the loss of a dog. For those who have never had a dog, it might be hard to understand the loss. However for those who have loved a dog know the truth: a dog is not just a pet; it is a member of the family, a best friend, a loyal companion, a teacher, and a therapist."

"For most, the loss of a dog is, in almost every way comparable to the loss of a Human loved one. The pain I felt from losing my first dog Tilly back in 2017 still hurts and on hearing the news about Lupo brought a wave of emotions flooding back. There isn't much of a rule book on how to grieve for a dog, but I've said a prayer, lit a candle, and taken Ella (Mum) for a long walk to spend time remembering Lupo."

"Rest in peace Lupo. Tilly & Mini will be waiting for you. You will always be remembered and your legacy will live on forever. Good boy."

Lupo will be greatly missed by the entire Royal family. Our hearts are with Prince William, Duchess Kate, and their 3 children during this time of loss.
