Although Prince William's love for Kate Middleton is evident, the decision to marry her and have a family could have been made for reasons beyond affection. According to royal expert Robert Lacey, the heir to the throne "auditioned" his now-wife and groomed her to serve as the future Queen of England before marrying her.

According to Robert Lacey, the son of Charles and Diana was deeply interested in preparing his partner for the royal role that he will play in the future, to the degree of feeling that he had to "audition" his future wife.

"It's been said that William was auditioning Catherine for her future role. And I think there's a truth to that. William is the future King of Britain and the Commonwealth and, like it or not, part of his job was to choose a consort who would do the job well," said the expert during the program. The Day Will and Kate Got Married, broadcast on ITV to celebrate the 10th wedding anniversary of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Apparently, William's work paid off as, according to a recently published survey, where 76% of Brits believe Kate will make a good Queen of England.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge recently celebrated the 10th wedding anniversary with a series of gorgeous photographs and a family video published on their social networks.

"Thank you to everyone for the kind messages on our wedding anniversary. We are enormously grateful for the 10 years of support we have received in our lives as a family," wrote the couple who signed the message as "W & C".

The video, directed by advertising specialist and wedding photographer Will Warr, was filmed in the fall of 2020 and features William, Kate, their three children - George, Charlotte, and Louis - and their dog Lupo, who recently passed.
