Camilla Parker-Bowles, now the Duchess of Cornwall, was always a thorn in Princess Diana’s (†36) side. Diana knew about her affair with Prince Charles and one evening decided to confront Camilla with her knowledge. Diana not only had an extraordinarily eventful life, but also showed a lot of courage with moments like this.

Princess Diana confronted Camilla at a birthday party

Princess Diana and Duchess Camilla met at the birthday party of Camilla's sister of all places. As Diana told Andrew Morton (66), the author of Diana, My True Story, during an interview she asked Camilla for a private conversation.

"Camilla, I would just like you to know that I know exactly what is going on," Diana began the conversation. After Camilla was confused at first she asked Diana: "You’ve got everything you ever wanted. You’ve got all the men in the world falling in love with you, and you’ve got two beautiful children. What more could you want?" Diana replied: "I want my husband".

Princess Diana also explained to Camilla: "I’m sorry I’m in the way. It must be hell for both of you, but I do know what is going on. Don’t treat me like an idiot." Diana's knowledge of her husband's infidelity also made headlines during her marriage.

In a conversation with Andrew Morton, Princess Diana admitted that she had felt better after the confrontation. "I’d done something, said what I felt. Still the old jealousy and anger swilling around, but it wasn’t so deathly as before."

The entire encounter is actually documented in archival recordings, on which Princess Diana recounts the awkward conversation with her husband’s mistress
