Shortly before he passed, Prince Philip was able to meet his newly-born 10th great-grandchild.
Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child, a baby boy named August, back on Feb. 9. Prince Philip only lived for two months after that, but he did get to meet the newborn before he died peacefully on April 9.
Princess Eugenie: Prince Philip met her son August
Eugenie and Jack gave their son the full name August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, with "Philip" honouring Eugenie's grandfather, the now late Duke of Edinburgh.
Eugenie shares the story of Prince Philip meeting his great-grandson in the upcoming tribute film Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers, which premieres next week on Sept. 22.
Per a Daily Mail preview, Eugenie says: "I brought little August to come and meet him. I told him that we'd named him after him. It was such a lovely moment. We were very lucky to do that."
Prince Philip met his and the Queen's 10th great-grandchild
Prince Philip ultimately died on April 9, just two months shy of his 100th birthday. It appears Eugenie was able to bring her weeks-old son to Windsor Castle, where Philip spent his final few weeks after he was discharged following a hospital stay.
Any day now, Princess Eugenie's sister Princess Beatrice is also expecting her first baby, who will be the monarch's 12th great-grandchild.
