In recent weeks, royal fans have been very worried about Queen Elizabeth II. But now the monarch is providing relief: After a few weeks in which she was not doing well, she made a new appearance today.

Queen Elizabeth: First new appearance in weeks

The Queen hosted General Sir Nick Carter for an audience at Windsor Castle. He previously resigned as Chief of the Defence Staff in the British Armed Forces. The audience was accompanied by cameras and a picture was shared on the royal Instagram page.

In a floral autumnal dress, the Queen appeared serious about her meeting in the new photos. But everyone should be relieved that she is attending appointments again.

Before today's audience, she had missed Remembrance Sunday. The ceremonies are very important to her, but a sprained back forced her to cancel last minute.

Only a few weeks earlier, Queen Elizabeth had to spend a night in hospital, which caused an earlier set of cancellations. In her absence, royal family members stood in for the ruler.

Royal experts remain divided on if the 95-year-old could possibly abdicate the throne following her recent health concerns.
