• Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan stepped down from senior members of the royal family some time ago
  • Since then, the mood between the couple and the royals has been up and down
  • However, the Queen tries to show her affection for the two of them

Time and time again, there have been headlines about a broken familial relationship since Prince Harry (37) left the British royal family with his wife Duchess Meghan (40). But sticking together in the family is obviously very important to the Queen (95) and she shows this with clear gestures.

In a public statement published in January 2021, Elizabeth II wrote: "Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much loved members of my family."

With loving words like these, the Queen makes it clear that she stands behind her grandson - even if it was probably difficult for her to accept his decision.

According to Royal expert Daniela Elser, the Queen would also do a lot to ensure that the two royals living in the USA spend Christmas with the rest of the family in England.

The British newspaper Daily Mail reported before Christmas 2019 that the Queen is said to have even called her grandson herself to ask if he and his family would come.

The editor of the Daily Mail emphasizes the rarity of such a call, as the Queen does not call anyone else simply because she would usually be called. This move is also meant to show that the Queen is trying very hard to show Harry and Meghan how important they are to her.

Since Harry and Meghan spoke fairly directly about the British royal family in an interview with Oprah in March 2021 and accusations of racism have been raised, the already tense relationship seems to have been further damaged.

One thing is clear, the Queen's gestures are intended to show Prince Harry that she stands behind him. According to media reports, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan even want to meet the Queen soon, so that she can finally get to know her great-granddaughter Lilibet Diana (4 months).
