Strictly Come Dancing fans unexpectedly welcomed Prince Harry into their homes on Saturday night.

On the new episode of the BBC dance competition, the Duke of Sussex appeared via video to support his friend and current Strictly contestant JJ Chalmers. He's a former Royal Marine who connected with Harry at the Invictus Games, following his recovery from severe injuries caused by an IED in Afghanistan.

The Week 4 episode of Strictly—comparable to Dancing with the Stars, for North American viewers—aired live on Saturday night. During the show, Chalmers sat down with his dance partner, Amy Dowden, for a video call from a surprise guest.

"There's somebody here who wants to see you," Dowden said, as Harry popped up on the screen. "Nice tan, JJ," he joked, before sharing a meaningful message about his friend.

"When I first met JJ, he was a shell of himself," Harry began. "But then to see you shine through Invictus and to be on like yourself again — that was the start of an amazing journey."

Chalmers explained, "The simple fact is, if Prince Harry had not created the Invictus Games, I would not have had that catalyst moment that changed my life forever. I wouldn't be here without him."

In the 90-second clip, the close friends shared more good-natured ribbing, and Harry said that he is "genuinely proud" of what Chalmers has accomplished. Dowden added, "Definitely not your average training session to have Prince Harry call in on you — just wow."

As for the episode's dance, JJ and Amy performed a jive to "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy."

It wasn't all good news, however, as JJ and Amy's jive scored the lowest among the nine remaining competitors. Strictly eliminates a fourth contestant on Sunday night, after Jacqui Smith (Week 1) and Jason Bell (Week 2) were eliminated and Nicola Adams withdrew in Week 3.

It was a rare UK television cameo for Prince Harry, who voiced his support for Chalmers after Duchess Meghan similarly cheered on Archie Williams on America's Got Talent several weeks earlier.
