Elizabeth Debicki intends to honour the memory of Princess Diana on The Crown.

On Sunday, the 29-year-old Australian actress was revealed as "Princess Diana" for the final two seasons of the Netflix series. As has become tradition for cast additions to The Crown, Debicki offered a few comments on the upcoming role as part of the announcement.

The Crown casts Princess Diana for seasons 5 and 6

"Princess Diana's spirt, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many," Debicki said of the late Princess of Wales. "It is my true privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked since episode one," the actress added.

Debicki will portray Princess Diana in seasons 5 and 6 of The Crown, after it was recently announced that the show would extend into a sixth and final season. Princess Diana has still yet to appear in the Netflix series, but she will debut in the upcoming season 4 as portrayed by Emma Corrin.

The Crown: Princess Diana actress Elizabeth Debicki

Debicki, a French-born Australian actress, is known for her previous work in popular titles such as The Great Gatsby (2013), The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Widows. She'll also appear in the highly-anticipated, but oft-delayed Christopher Nolan film, Tenet.

News of Debicki's casting follows the Aug. 12 reveal of Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip for the final two seasons. Imelda Staunton is also in line to take over as the Queen in season 5, as is Lesley Manville in the role of Princess Margaret. Seasons 5 and 6 are expected to cover the royals in the 1990s and early 2000s, which would presumably act out the separation of Charles and Diana as well as her tragic 1997 death.
