The new season of The Crown dropped like a bomb.

While the first seasons focused mainly on the life of Queen Elizabeth II, season 4 devoted more time to Prince Charles and Princess Diana's story. Prince William and the Royal Family were allegedly angry about the new season, and now Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, is joining them in speaking out.

The Crown: Princess Diana's brother Charles defends his sister

Appearing on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh, Charles Spencer voiced his concerns about the new Crown season. "The worry for me is that people will see a program like that and they forget that it is fiction," he explained.

The Netflix original series is said to be based in fact, but some elements are exaggerated while others are pure fiction. Portraying the royals from 1977 to 1990, the new season highlights the conflict-ridden marriage between Diana and Charles, and the Princess of Wales's struggle with an eating disorder.

Charles continued, "Americans tell me they have watched The Crown as if they have taken a history lesson. Well, they haven't." His fear is that fact and fiction will become blurred and that people will believe everything they see on The Crown.

Charles Spencer rejected The Crown's filming request

The creators of the series even wanted to shoot in the home of the Spencer family, Charles revealed, but he denied the request. "I feel it is my duty to stand up for her when I can," the Earl Spencer said of his late sister, Lady Diana.

The Crown season 4 once again pulled in many viewers, but this season's factuality was under the microscope more than usual amid reports of anger on the part of the royals. To see what was real and what was fake, see a breakdown of the new season here.
