One would imagine when you're newly engaged you would only have great things to say about love and affection for your future spouse, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case in this 1981 interview with Princess Diana and Prince Charles.
Finally announcing their engagement, Diana and Charles were seen snuggling up together while they answered questions in regards to their relationship. It was a bit awkward, and one wouldn't be surprised by that when taken into consideration they only actually spent time together 13 times prior, but it was a response Charles gave that really struck a nerve.
When asked if they were in love, Princess Diana simply said, "Of course," before Charles followed up quickly, "Whatever love means." The lack of intimacy was very prevalent in the couple.
It was later revealed in Diana's memoir how she felt about that interview saying, "That threw me completely. I thought, 'what a strange answer'. It traumatized me."
