Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle Sr. has proven time and time again that giving apologies are not his strong suit. In his newest interview, he sought pity for being estranged from his new grandchildren and half-heartedly apologizes to his daughter while adding more insults to the fire.

Thomas Markle Sr.'s 60 Minutes Australia Interview

Tom Steinfort spoke exclusively to Thomas Markle Sr. for 60 Minutes Australia, where Thomas aired out his grievances about being shut out of his daughter's life. He opened up about how he learned of Lilibet's birth over the radio and brought up more accusations against his daughter and son-in-law.

Thomas told Steinfort that his main goal with this interview was to apologize directly to Meghan and Harry in hopes of mending their relationship as he believes he does not have much time left. "July 18th I'll be 77 years old and most of the Markel men don't make it much past 80. So there's a good chance I might never see my grandchildren. I'm not looking for pity."

Tom attempted to lead him to understand Thomas himself has continued to sour the relationship by lying to his daughter and continuously speaking of Harry and Meghan negatively. Thomas Markle Sr. simply said, "If I had done something terribly wrong, that would be fine. So I just want an answer."

"I don't like to say it but I gotta say it: but I don't know of anybody that's that cold to do this. And now Meghan's done it to me and now Harry's done it to his father. And it's even more cold to do it to the Queen who's in her 90s. None of this makes sense."

It seems Thomas is unaware that Prince Charles still speaks to his son and that Harry and Meghan have been incredibly protective of the Queen, saying only positive things about her and even clarifying to the public that their statements about a member of the firm's callous questioning of Archie's skin color were in fact not made by Queen Elizabeth or Prince Philip.

Her Majesty was reportedly quite happy to speak to Harry about her newest granddaughter Lilibet Diana being named after her late husband's cute nickname for the Monarch.

Thomas Markle Sr.'s Contradictions

Thomas has also seemed to forget that he himself bashed Her Majesty by name on multiple occasions, referring to the Royal family as a "cult." He claims Harry and Meghan "coldly" cut him out of their lives but in the court proceedings over the very personal letter Thomas sold to the Associated Press for a pretty penny, shows something different.

It was actually Thomas who cut off Harry and Meghan first and that Harry pleaded with him to speak to his daughter ahead of their wedding as she desperately wanted him to walk her down the aisle. Thomas hung up on Harry and refused to speak with them, this was the last time he has heard from his daughter.

The text messages from Harry and Meghan to Thomas ahead of the wedding show a much different reality than Thomas is painting. Thomas has time and time again claimed Harry and Meghan did not protect him from the media and cut him off after his staged photo incident. Scared for her father's health Meghan pleaded, "I've been reaching out to you all weekend but you're not taking any of our calls or replying to any texts. Do you need help? Can we send the security team down again? What hospital are you at?"

It is also clear that Thomas threatened Prince Harry who responded to Thomas, "U do not need to apologize, we understand the circumstances but 'going public' will only make the situation worse." Thomas again threatened his daughter and Prince Harry with blackmail live on air while speaking with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid

Both Piers Morgan and 60 Minutes Australia seemed to understand that Thomas has been shooting himself in the foot by selling interviews, and anti-Harry and Meghan Piers even asked, "Why do you keep talking to the press?"

60 Minutes Australia's Tom Steinfort asked Thomas: "So you don't think it's possible that you're to blame?" He responded with, "If I am, tell me why or how and I'll try to fix it but I don't know why or how."

"Right now I'm talking to Meghan and Harry: I love you, you guys. We can work out the problems. I don't think there's any problems that can't be worked out. I've said I'm sorry about the initial problem. If I said anything today that offended anyone, I'm sorry about that too. I'm just telling the truth about how I feel and what's going on."

This time, Thomas skated over what he admitted to Good Morning Britain, that he did lie to his daughter which "broke her heart into a million pieces." In this interview, he downplayed his many contributions to his daughter's suffering or admitting the many cruel jabs he has taken at his daughter, Harry, and even the Royal family. He is now sympathizing with Prince Charles but seems to believe Harry and Meghan are not in touch with the Royal family or her mother's side of the family at all, which is not the case.

The Royal family were in fact, some of the first to hear about Lilibet Diana's name and to learn about her birth. Prince Harry and his family may have strained relationships but they continue to be in contact and supportive of each other. Meghan's graceful mother Doria Ragland has also been a pillar of strength for Meghan, not once speaking to the press or bashing anyone, instead just enjoying her new life as a grandmother of Archie and Lilibet Diana.

Thomas Markle Sympathises With Prince Charles and Is Angry With Oprah

Steinfort told Thomas "If you ever caught up with Prince Charles for a beer, you two would probably have quite a bit in common." To which Thomas responded, "I think we'd get along quite well. And it's unfortunate what's happened to him as well. Um, he seems like a likable guy and I actually appreciate the fact that he walked my daughter down the aisle. I certainly couldn't have asked for a better replacement. Although I would have loved to have done that."

"I see them both ghosting their families completely. Now they're, I mean basically, now they're alone in a huge house that could probably accommodate 20 people in and it's just the four of them. But I don't think they're going to have relatives over for a barbecue for the next week or the next month."

Meghan's mother Doria Ragland has maintained a close relationship with the pair and reportedly helped plan Archie's birthday party ahead of Lilibet's birth.

When asked if Thomas believes Meghan still loves him, he explained, "I have no idea. Like I said, I haven't spoken to her since I was laying in a hospital bed 2 days before they got married. That's the last conversation that we had. I haven't spoken to them since."

"There are axe murderers in prison, their family comes to see them. Right? I mean, I'm not an axe murderer. You know, I made one dumb mistake, never been forgiven for it."

He then took another swipe at his son-in-law Prince Harry, saying he "contradicts himself so much. With my daughter, he said my daughter was thinking of suicide. And he went to the royals and they wouldn't help him. Well, you don't go to the royals, you pick up a telephone and you call a doctor. That's like saying, 'I wanted to leave the house, but nobody opened the door for me.' You know, it's stupid."

The Markle patriarch also aired his grievances against Meghan and Harry's neighbor and close friend, Oprah Winfrey. He said he believes she is "playing Harry and Meghan. I think she's using them to build her network and build her new shows. I think she's taking advantage of a very weakened man and getting him to say things that you just shouldn't be saying on television."

This is contradictory to what Thomas was saying to The Sun when claiming the Royal family was "cult-like." He begged Meghan to speak out, "If they [the Royals] hear anybody say anything they just lock the doors. They need to speak up!"

After all his grievances were aired he remembered to claim he was sorry and told 60 Minutes Australia he will "never give up hope" on mending his relationship with his daughter.
