Duchess Meghan (37) has not been in contact with her father, Thomas Markle, for some months. He wishes to tear down the "wall of silence" between him, his pregnant daughter and his son-in-law Prince Harry (34), whom he has never met. The rift began when Thomas staged paparazzi pictures shortly before the royal wedding last May shortly before suffering a heart attack, preventing him being able to walk his daughter down the aisle. Meghan was then led down the aisle (at least in part) by her new father-in-law, Prince Charles (70).

The Daily Mail reported that Thomas still has countless cards and notes sent to him by Meghan, all written by a seemingly devoted daughter. Before she was a famous actress, Meghan trained as a calligrapher and used her skills to write and sell luxury hand-written wedding invitations. All her cards to her father are beautifully written in cursive script. Mr Meghan opened up about the cards he received from his estranged daughter, saying, "I loved getting cards from Meghan. She wrote me hundreds of little cards and notes through the years. Sometimes they were for special occasions, other times just little notes she would leave around the house. I’ve still got a Post-It Note on my fridge which says, “I love you Daddy.” I see it every day".

Thomas Markle wants to correct the lies written about him

Meghan's father now wants to make up with his daughter and clear his name of what he terms to be "lies" made against him, using the letters Meghan sent him as proof, as well as medical statements.

"I have been frozen out and I can’t stay silent," he stated in his interview with the Daily Mail. "I have made dozens of attempts to reach my daughter via text and letters, but she and Harry have put up a wall of silence. They have done what they once told me not to do – they are believing everything negative that has been written about me. So I am reaching out to them, once again, to try to correct the lies and get the truth out there.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan leave Windsor Castle after their wedding

Thomas Markle has even produced medical statements proving that he did indeed undergo heart surgery shortly before Harry and Meghan's wedding Many believed he simply faked the surgery as he was to embarrassed to attend.

It seems as if while Thomas Markle has undoubtedly caused trouble for Meghan, it may be time for the Royal Family to try to attempt a truce. Only time will tell whether the rift can ever be bridged, but it would probably cause a lot less heartbreak in the long run.
