Another day, another incredible milestone for the Queen!

On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the 67th anniversary of her Coronation ceremony. Her Majesty's reign had actually begun on Feb. 6, 1952, but her Coronation Day took place on June 2, 1953.

The now 94-year-old monarch was 27 when she was crowned sovereign.

Queen Elizabeth II's 1953 Coronation Day reaches 67th anniversary

The Royal Family's Instagram account shared a post in honour of the Queen's milestone. It revealed some interesting facts about Coronation Day tradition.  

"Queen Elizabeth II was crowned on 2 June, 1953 in Westminster Abbey. Her Majesty was the thirty-ninth Sovereign to be crowned at Westminster Abbey, the setting for every Coronation since 1066," the post reads.

"Whilst an occasion for celebration, The Queen's Coronation was a solemn, religious ceremony that lasted almost three hours.‬ ‪The service has remained essentially the same for over 1,000 years."

The post was accompanied by a Coronation portrait of the Queen.

Queen Elizabeth II is at Windsor Castle in lockdown

Queen Elizabeth II spent her Coronation Day anniversary in lockdown at Windsor Castle. She reportedly continues to go riding on a daily basis, and was even photographed doing so over the weekend.
