What William & Harry Reportedly Discussed In "Not Productive" Talk After Oprah Interview
New details have emerged about Prince Harry and Prince William's first talk after the big interview with Oprah Winfrey last month. Around one week after the interview, Gayle King first revealed she'd spoken to Harry and Meghan, who told her that discussions with the Royal Family were "not productive." Now, a source has told Us Weekly what the brothers reportedly talked about, adding that the conversation "didn't end well."
Prince William and Prince Harry's first conversation after the Oprah interview centred on Princess Diana, according to a new report.
Today, Us Weekly shared word from a source with knowledge on that talk between the brothers—which broadcaster Gayle King previously said was "not productive," according to Harry and Meghan themselves.
Prince Harry & Prince William's talk after the Oprah interview
According to Us Weekly's source, the conversation focused on just one topic: moving forward with the upcoming statue unveiling of Princess Diana, which will reunite the brothers in the UK this July.
"The conversation Harry and William had after the big interview didn't end well," the insider said. "And yes, they agreed over the statue, but communication between them was sparse and over email and WhatsApp."
Princess Diana's name had also come up in Prince Harry's interview, as did Prince William's and a range of controversial subjects, but the brothers were reportedly focused on the tribute to their mother in the immediate aftermath of Oprah with Meghan and Harry.
The report follows news of last month that William and Harry will go ahead with the July 1 event at Kensington Palace, where they'll reveal a statue of Diana on what would've been her 60th birthday.
William-Harry relationship timeline since the Oprah interview
The new report also fills in a gap in the story that's followed Harry and Meghan's talk with Oprah Winfrey. Just after the March 7 interview, Prince William publicly denounced accusations of racism against the Royal Family and told reporters that he'd be speaking to his brother soon.
Days after that, Gayle King spoke to Harry and Meghan, who, she said, relayed to her that these first talks with the Royal Family were "not productive." Despite this, reports soon followed that said the unveiling of the Diana statue would proceed this summer.
