The director, whose most recent works include the 2013 reboot of The Great Gatsby, praised Butler's abilities when speaking to Variety. Butler, who is currently dating fellow actress Vanessa Hudgens, will be starring alongside Tom Hanks, who will play Elvis Presley's manager Tom Parker.
