Ricci to play "exciting new character" in Wednesday
Ricci has recently appeared in the series Yellowjackets, and is well known for playing "Wednesday Addams" in the Addams Family movies. However, Netflix's new show will see Scream star Jenna Ortega taking on the iconic role. The streaming platform teased Ricci's involvement in the show
In a tweet, Netflix called Ricci "magnificent," revealing that she will be taking on "an exciting new character" for the series. As Deadline has shared, the actress's role is a major one! That's because Ricci is set to be a series regular in Wednesday, with a character said to be similar to the one Thora Birch would have played in the show. Birch was reportedly going to play "Wednesday's" dorm mother before she exited the project.
Ricci is the latest addition to the cast of the Tim Burton-directed series. Aside from Ortega in the lead role, the show has found its "Morticia Addams" and "Gomez Addams" in Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán. The fact that the actress who fans know as "Wednesday" will also be involved in the show makes it even more exciting!
