Just one year after the end of the series, the popular police series Criminal Minds could already be preparing its return to small screens around the world. This weekend, Deadline reported that CBS intends to renew a new season of the crime drama created by Jeff Davis for their new streaming platform, Paramount+. His creative team and some members of the original cast are expected to return for this project.
The return of Criminal Minds at Paramount+
No more than 365 days had passed since the broadcast of the final episode and the series Criminal Minds was already back at the CBS project table.
As reported by the site Deadline, the television network is preparing a new season of the successful series based on a group of specialists in criminal profiles for Paramount+, the new ViacomCBS platform that will replace the streaming service CBS All Access.
Although the project is in an early stage, the specialized site reported that it is a priority for the chain to keep the creative team and a good number of the actors who were part of the cast of the series for this new season.
The reasons behind the return of Criminal Minds
While the long-running history of Criminal Minds came to an end on February 19, 2020, the success of the series continued on streaming platforms and reruns throughout the world.
In fact, one of the reasons CBS Television plans to resume its co-production with The Mark Gordon Company and ABC Studios is the great reception that Criminal Minds has on Netflix, where it is listed as one of the most viewed titles on the platform.
The return of Criminal Minds which originally starred Mandy Patinkin, Shemar Moore, Joe Mantegna, Aisha Tyler, Matthew Gray Gubler, Thomas Gibson, Lola Glaudini and Adam Rodriguez, is planned for the near future... stay tuned!
