Dexter fans have much to be excited about with the crime show's upcoming revival coming later this year! On Thursday, Showtime teased the series' return by sharing a new trailer, which sees Michael C. Hall appears as "Dexter Morgan" for the first time since 2013.

Dexter teaser sees the titular character continue his torture

Dexter uses serene imagery of a snow-covered forest and a burning fire at the start of the teaser. However, this footage is intended to lull the viewer into a false sense of security before making a creepy reveal! The camera zooms out to show a person squirming on a table while wrapped in plastic— "Dexter's" characteristic method of torture.

"Dexter" himself is then shown from behind, paying his victim no attention while he watches the scene outside the window. The song "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" can be heard playing in the background, as "Dexter" turns around to give the camera an unsettling smile!

Dexter revival officially coming to Showtime later this year

Dexter also gave fans a sneak peek at the revival last week with a similarly chilling video clip, featuring an axe lodged into a stump. Just like in the new video, a fire can also be seen burning. "There really is nothing like getting back to nature," "Dexter" can be heard saying in the seconds-long teaser. "My nature."

Hall opened up about the Dexter revival back in January, saying that he feels "excited" to return to the show. He also revealed that the limited series will continue where it left off! Dexter is expected to make its return to Showtime in the fall, but in the meantime, you can check out these two teasers!
