A second Downton Abbey movie is actually in the works! The show's creator and writer Julian Fellowes confirmed the news when he appeared on stage at the TCA's winter press tour.

Fellowes was at the event to promote his upcoming ITV drama Belgravia, but questions regarding Downton Abbey did - naturally - come up as well, since the first movie was a huge success with moviegoers all over the world, making over $160 million at the box office.

Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes is ready for a sequel!

While speaking to the press at the TCA event, Julian Fellowes revealed that he is still busy writing the upcoming HBO drama The Gilded Age and that he will start work on the Downton Abbey sequel as soon as he is done.

The first Downton Abbey movie saw Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Elizabeth McGovern and Dame Maggie Smith all reprising their legendary roles from the TV show in the film.

We sure are excited about he sequel and hope we get to see the original cast again! Until then, Fellowes' new show Belgravia is set to premiere on ITV in the UK and on Epix in the US in 2020!
