The name "Adam Carrington" may still sting fans of Dynasty, past and present. The perpetrator of many vile deeds on the '80s soap opera, "Adam" was originally portrayed by Canadian actor Gordon Thomson on Dynasty seasons 3-9.

The role next went to Robin Sachs in The Reunion (1991) and Sam Underwood now portrays "Adam" in The CW's revival series. But where is the original "Adam Carrington" today?

Gordon Thomson starred as "Adam" on Dynasty from 1982 to 1989, also appearing on a few other shows—including The Colbys—over that time span. But since his Dynasty reign of terror, Thomson has continued work as a well-known TV star.

'90s TV fans and soap opera devotees will especially remember Thomson as "Mason Capwell" on Santa Barbara, "Mr. Parish" on Beverly Hills, 90210, and "A.J. Deschanel" on Sunshine Beach.

Gordon Thomson: The Canadian actor in 2023

Today, Thomson is 78 years old — and little has changed in terms of his TV roles! As he moved into the 2000s, Thomson picked up parts in soaps Days of Our Lives, DeVanity, and Winterthorne. On a personal note, in 2017, the actor also came out as gay in an interview with The Daily Beast.

"It's not something I've ever announced," Thomson told The Daily Beast. "I'm assuming that people know, and now that I'm my age that's fine. I don't go out of my way because it's my generation, I think. I'm probably as homophobic as any gay man alive because of my background."

Most recently, Thomson kept at it with work on The Young and the Restless as "Daryl Tulane" in 2019. It appears there's no slowing down the soap opera star.
