It's a sad day for Fast & Furious fans. Despite being one of the most successful franchises in recent commercial cinema, Universal Pictures announced the end of the saga of Fast & Furious. According to Deadline, the studio will produce two final installments of the film series starring Vin Diesel, culminating his run with 11 movies, a spin-off, and more than 20 years of history on screen.

This week, sources close to Universal Pictures confirmed to Deadline that the company plans to end the saga of Fast & Furious after its eleventh installment.

Although previously Vin Diesel had said that the franchise would unexpectedly stretch to a halt, the studio's plans appear to have changed after the release of the ninth film -Fast & Furious 9- was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, the Comcast studio is looking to expand the film series with two more productions, both directed by Justin Lin, the filmmaker behind Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast & Furious 5 (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and the still unreleased Fast & Furious 9 (2021).
