That's because on Friday, Disney came forward with an unexpected surprise when they shared the news that they've decided to make the hit animated movie available on Disney+ this week! As Entertainment Tonight reports, originally Frozen II wasn't going to be available for streaming until June. But given how current events have been progressing in the world as of late, Disney wanted to give families some happy news.

Disney explains decision for Frozen II early streaming release

Frozen II's early Disney+ release was originally planned for Tuesday, and then bumped up sooner to Sunday! A tweet from the streaming service confirmed the news. According to Entertainment Tonight, Disney's official announcement cites the primary reason behind deciding to release Frozen II on Disney+ sooner than planned as “surprising families with some fun and joy during this challenging period". 

Disney CEO Bob Chapek also shared a statement on Disney's Frozen II decision, speaking to the thematic resonance of the movie— especially given the current state of the world. "Frozen II has captivated audiences around the world through its powerful themes of perseverance and the importance of family, messages that are incredibly relevant during this time," he said, "and we are pleased to be able to share this heartwarming story early with our Disney+ subscribers to enjoy at home on any device".
