Is the end in sight for Grey's Anatomy?

Six episodes into season 17, the long-running medical drama hasn't yet been renewed for another season and there's been ongoing discussion about how long Grey's might last. Today, showrunner Krista Vernoff spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about this "uncertain future" for the popular series.

Could Grey's Anatomy season 17 be the ending?

While Vernoff didn't exactly have a promising update, she did say that Grey's is prepared if this season turns out to be the show's last. "I'm planning a season and a finale that could function as either a season finale or a series finale," she told THR.

"I'm planning for both contingencies and it's hard and it's not ideal. It's not where I wish we were," she added. THR also said that renewal conversations with ABC are still in progress, but they've yet to result in a deal several months in.
