The Grey Sloan Memorial team has survived everything from a sinkhole, earthquake and bomb to a plane crash. Now, it seems that the production of Grey's Anatomy is ready to overcome another hurdle in its 17th season: the COVID-19 pandemic. According to reports from Variety, the team behind the hit medical series is set to return to the set and will resume filming for its new season this month.
Grey’s Anatomy will restart production this month
Although the ABC network had warned that the new season of Grey’s Anatomy would not premiere this year, the company's plans seem to be about to change with the start of production of the first few episodes of season 17.
As reported Variety, the Shonda Rhimes crew has already started preparations to resume filming the series starring Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and Jesse Williams.
The news outlet even states that the filming of the first few episodes of Grey’s will take place in the second week of September in Los Angeles.
The expected return of Grey’s Anatomy
In August, Ellen Pompeo stated on her Twitter account that plans to restart production of the new season of Grey’s Anatomy were up and running and ready to go "in a few weeks." However, the actress did not give a specific date for these plans.
With the start of production happening sooner than we thought, Grey’s Anatomy could surprise everyone and appear on ABC's winter schedule, especially in the normal Thursday time slot that the medical series had aired since its premiere in 2005.
