The script was written by Gregg Hurwitz and Philip Eisner, while longtime friend of Momoa, Brian Andrew Mendoza will make his debut as a director with Sweet Girl. They worked together in the 2018 Canadian action thriller film Braven, and the Game of Thrones star said that he is really happy to reunite with him again: "It's a dream come true to collaborate with him and deliver his vision."
