Night Court Reboot Officially Happening: See John Larroquette Return!

A reboot of Night Court is officially happening, and there's now a first look at star John Larroquette reprising his iconic role as "Dan Fielding." Here are the new details on the sequel, including the cast, expected release date, and that first photo of the stars.

It's been nearly 30 years since Night Court ended, but the series will return in 2022.

This week, industry outlets confirmed that NBC has officially ordered the Night Court sequel that we first heard about late last year. Star John Larroquette will return as "Dan Fielding" in the new show, and The Big Bang Theory actress Melissa Rauch will co-star.

Night Court reboot: New sequel series has 2022 release date

The Hollywood Reporter says the reboot, which appears to still be called Night Court, could premiere on NBC in early 2022 or next fall in the 2022-23 TV season. Below, see the first photo of Rauch with Larroquette back in his trademark role.

The new series will centre on Rauch as judge "Abby Stone," the daughter of the now-deceased judge "Harry Stone," originally played by the late Harry Anderson.

Per THR, "The unapologetically optimistic Abby follows in her dad's footsteps and presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court while trying to bring order to the assortment of oddballs and cynics who pass through her courtroom."

John Larroquette back in Night Court at age 73

Larroquette, now 73, is back as "Dan," the role that won him four Emmys in the 1980s. The original Night Court ran from 1984 to 1992. He and Rauch are the only cast members known so far.

Sadly, Night Court has also been in the news in recent months due to the deaths of two original cast members. Markie Post passed away in August, just one month after Charles Robinson died in July.
