Kate Garraway Returns To Good Morning Britain

This is officially Kate Garraway's first week back on the hit breakfast show and she could not be more over the moon! The 53-year-old mother of 2 posted a picture alongside her cohost Ben Shephard saying "Well I survived my 1st day back without crashing the show thanks to the brilliant @benshephardofficial, the whole wonderful @gmb team & all of YOUR patience!! Thanks so much for your incredibly kind messages. Means such a lot. Derek had a stable day too so [fingers crossed]. See you at 6 a.m tomorrow xxx."

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway Gives Update On Husband Derek

In March, her husband and father of her two children Derek Draper became ill with COVID-19 and was rushed to intensive care where he has been in an induced coma ever since. Kate updated GMB viewers about Derek's condition by letting them know he is still fighting and is still unresponsive but stable. She and her family have been speaking to him via FaceTime daily. The nurses apparently have even put on GMB for him in the mornings!

Soon she may even be able to visit her husband in the hospital! She has been unable to be by his side since March due to the pandemic but now is excited at the prospect of getting to see him. She and her children have been speaking to him daily and making sure he knows he is loved and missed.

Last week she spoke with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid about her husband's health and that doctors urged her to go back to work and to avoid putting her "life on hold" because Derek may continue to be in his unresponsive state for some time. Even tough guy Piers had kind and supportive words for Kate saying "Even in the darkest times, the incredible strength you've had, honestly it's so inspiring. You've somehow held it together."

Fans and GMB members alike are ecstatic to have her back and are excited at the prospect of Kate being able to be reunited with her beloved husband soon.
