A fugitive will once again be on the run on Aug. 3. Only, this time around, it will be Kiefer Sutherland leading the investigation, which takes on a modern twist in 2020's The Fugitive.

Streamer Quibi, which launched in April 2020, has had the project in the works since 2019. It's a remake of the 1960s TV series, which was also later remade with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones taking the leads in the 1993 film of the same title.

The new TV series sees Sutherland assume the role of "Det. Clay Bryce," who is tasked with tracking down on-the-run (but innocent) "Mike Ferro," played by Boyd Holbrook.

"Desperate to clear his name, ["Ferro"] is chased through Los Angeles by the cop who will not rest until he is captured," Quibi says of its new series. The trailer also shows an emphasis on modern policing surveillance technology and the prominence of social media — new twists on the former '60s and '90s adaptations. Watch the trailer below.

Quibi's The Fugitive: New role for 24's Kiefer Sutherland

The Fugitive is a somewhat rare new role for 53-year-old Kiefer Sutherland. The long-time 24 star had been working on ABC's and Netflix's Designated Survivor for three seasons, before it was cancelled in 2019. The series was the actor's primary TV role over the past five years.

For Sutherland fans, his participation in the Quibi series may also be motivation to sign on with the recently launched streamer, which offers a 14-day free trial upon sign-up. Time will tell if Sutherland and Boyd Holbrook's The Fugitive matches up to the classic takes on "Dr. Richard Kimble" and the iconic crime thriller! Watch for it on Aug. 3.
