Killing Eve fans were fortunate to have an uninterrupted season 3 in the spring of 2020. While many other TV shows were delayed amid the pandemic, Killing Eve aired the new season with a usual eight episodes in April and May.

However, heading into Killing Eve season 4, there are currently question marks surrounding a release date and when production will resume. Here's everything we know so far about the new season.

Killing Eve season 4: Release date, production updates?

News of a fourth season of Killing Eve came ahead of the season 3 premiere, so fans have had that security for some time now. But the BBC America and AMC series is unlikely to air during the usual April-May schedule come 2021.

As of November, production has yet to begin on the new season due to COVID-19 restrictions in the UK. According to star-producer Sandra Oh, a filming restart will not begin until early 2021 in the best-case scenario.

Oh explained to USA Today that season 4 should have been shooting between July and December, so they are running considerably behind schedule. Other reports suggest a late-2021 or even a 2022 premiere appears more realistic, so the regular April date looks out of the question at this point.

Killing Eve season 4: Plot, new cast members, showrunner?

The likely delay of Killing Eve season 4 is unfortunate, given the cliffhangers in the season 3 finale—which featured a gunpoint confrontation between "Carolyn" (Fiona Shaw) and "Konstantin" (Kim Bodnia) and a final scene that teased a new connection between "Eve" and "Villanelle."

So far, it's expected that all of the regular cast members will return for season 4. While the show has introduced a few new actors each season, there hasn't been word on additions to the cast at this time, either.

One detail that is set in stone is that Laura Neal will serve as showrunner in season 4, as the series employs a new creative lead each season. She's known for earlier work on Sex Education and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

In the meantime, we await official word on season 4's schedule and will keep you posted on any updates. Revisit the best moments in season 3 here.
