Kristen Stewart will soon be taking on the role of Princess Diana, and has revealed how she's preparing to play the iconic royal! As Hello! shares, Stewart talked about portraying the late Princess of Wales in the upcoming movie Spencer in a new interview, sharing that it's been both exciting and challenging for her!

Stewart calls Princess Diana's accent "intimidating" to learn

Stewart talked about getting ready for Spencer while she was interviewed by Clea DuVall— who also directed her in the upcoming holiday movie Happiest Season— for InStyle's November cover story. As Hello! mentions, Spencer is set to begin production in mid-January, and Stewart has already done a few things to start gearing up for the role.

During her InStyle interview, Stewart mentioned that one of the things she's finding to be the most challenging about playing Princess Diana is getting her voice right. "The accent is intimidating... because people know that voice, and it's so, so distinct and particular," she explained. "I'm working on it now and already have my dialect coach."

Stewart has been extensively reading up on Princess Diana

Stewart hasn't just been working on mastering Princess Diana's accent— she's also taken the time to delve into her life! She shared that she's been reading as much about Diana as she can before shooting starts, having already finished a couple books on her. "I've gotten through two and a half biographies, and I'm finishing all the material before I actually go make the movie," she told DuVall.

The actress went on to express how much the role means to her, and how she wants to do it justice by becoming well acquainted with who Diana was during her lifetime. "It's one of the saddest stories to exist ever, and I don't want to just play Diana — I want to know her implicitly," she continued. "I haven't been this excited about playing a part, by the way, in so long."

Back in June, it was announced that Stewart would be portraying Princess Diana in Spencer. However, she's not the only actress to be playing a version of the late royal these days! Emma Corrin recently opened up about playing the Princess of Wales in season 4 of The Crown, and Elizabeth Debicki talked about taking over the role in the show's final two seasons. We're excited to see all these interpretations of Princess Diana, including Stewart's portrayal of her in Spencer
