Law & Order fans have plenty to look forward to this fall.

This week, NBC confirmed it's adding a third Law & Order series to its fall lineup. The new show, Law & Order: For the Defense, will join an amazing night of TV on NBC Thursdays with SVU and Organized Crime. Here's what we know about For the Defense.

Law & Order: For the Defense - New series premieres in 2021

For the Defense will flip the script on the usual Law & Order formula, focusing instead on criminal defense attorneys rather than investigations and criminal takedowns.

As Deadline announced: "The series will put lawyers under the microscope, along with the criminal justice system, with every week delivering the promise of a contemporary morality tale."

The show will follow the team of a criminal defense firm, and Dick Wolf is collaborating with former CSI showrunner and producer Carol Mendelsohn on the new series. It will premiere in the 2021-22 TV season on NBC.

New Law & Order TV show: Cast, news, premiere?

So far, no cast members have been confirmed for Law & Order: For the Defense. But it remains a possibility that they could go a similar route to how "Elliot Stabler" (Christopher Meloni) returned this year and launched his own show, Organized Crime.

Fans are speculating the new series could possibly feature former ADA "Rafael Barba" (Raul Esparza), who became a defense attorney after leaving SVU. He has since returned and even appeared on SVU again this season.

There are others former stars who could potentially lead the new series, too, as many ex-Law & Order cast members moved on to work as attorneys.

Expect more updates on the newest Law & Order series in the near future, because it will premiere this fall on NBC. They'll need to assemble a team of cast members for the show, and we're hoping to see some familiar faces!
