Allison Janney has spoken out on the departure of Mom star Anna Faris.

Mom: Allison Janney on cast's loss of Anna Faris in season 8
Just days before Mom returns, Janney and co-star Jaime Pressly spoke to ET about the new season. And clearly, Faris's exit is on the minds of the cast and will be addressed in the new season.
"It's a huge loss for the show to not have Anna because she was part of creating a character, Christy, that everyone fell in love with, who was so lovable and warm and gullible and funny and we will miss her so much," Janney told ET.
"I think I'll miss the most, for me, the relationship between Bonnie and Christy, even though that will still continue. But she won't be present. That's what I'll miss," Janney added, seemingly suggesting that "Christy" will continue to impact the show, even without Faris's on-screen presence.
Why Anna Faris quit Mom
Fans were left shocked when Faris, Mom's lead, announced on Sept. 4 that she was quitting the series after seven seasons. At the time, she released a statement that read, in part: "While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I'll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family."
Faris's exit was reportedly made known to producers some time before September, meaning the Mom team had time to prepare a new direction without "Christy." Tune into season 8—premiering on Thursday, Nov. 5—to find out how Mom addresses the exit.
