Scott Bakula has revealed his feelings on NCIS: New Orleans getting cancelled.

It turns out the "Pride" actor was just as surprised as fans were when news broke of the cancellation back in February. Only two episodes remain and the finale will show on May 23.

Scott Bakula on the NCIS: New Orleans cancellation

Bakula, 66, spoke out on the sudden conclusion in a new interview with TV Insider. He said, "This being the last season, going out in the middle of a pandemic, I didn't think it was going to happen."

Bakula added, "I'm surprised the show was cancelled." The former Quantum Leap star also had a kind message for the fans, who he said have been "very supportive."

"They seem to have liked the show, they like the stories we told, the characters on the show, and that's why we do it.

"We do it because we want people to grow a relationship and attach and invite us into their homes and we don't take that lightly. I never have," Bakula continued.

"I honor them and we have always had had a great relationship and I look forward to continuing that in the future."

NCIS: New Orleans series finale date is May 23

NCIS: New Orleans has been on the air since 2014 and will conclude after the seventh season and two remaining episodes. The finale will be a rewarding send-off for fans, as team leader "Pride" is expected to tie the knot in the episode.

The New Orleans spin-off was a popular one, but the NCIS franchise is going a different route next season with the new series NCIS: Hawaii premiering in place of NCIS: New Orleans.

The penultimate NCIS: New Orleans episode airs this Sunday, May 16, and the series finale follows next Sunday, May 23, on CBS. Don't miss it!
