No Time to Die, one of the last major film releases still set for 2020, has now pushed its premiere to April 2021.

On Friday, the 25th entry in the franchise was postponed, as confirmed on the official James Bond social media pages. The six-month delay comes so No Time to Die can "be seen by a worldwide theatrical audience," the franchise wrote.

No Time to Die: Release date delayed again, to 2021

No Time to Die follows the lead of the other major releases of 2020, most of which have either postponed to next year or sold off to streaming services. It had remained one of few blockbuster releases holding firm on a late 2020 premiere, after the global box office showed shaky returns upon reopening following the pandemic.

On Twitter, the James Bond page reassured fans of the 2021 release, writing: "We understand the delay will be disappointing to our fans but we now look forward to sharing NO TIME TO DIE next year."

Daniel Craig's last Bond movie won't come in 2020 after all

The timing of the No Time to Die rescheduling comes as something of a surprise, too. Just one day earlier, the franchise released a music video—with new footage of the film—for the title theme song by Billie Eilish.

Press had also been mounting ahead of the release, with star Léa Seydoux giving an interview earlier this week. Alas, "007" fans will have to wait until April 2, 2021, to catch Craig's final outing as the famed agent on the big screen.

No Time to Die was originally scheduled for an April 2020 release, which had been moved to November 2020, and now falls to April 2021. Today, a major October release, The Witches, went the route of cancelling its theatrical run and moving to streamer HBO Max.
