Is there a future for the characters from the "Skywalker" saga within the growing Star Wars universe? Kathleen Kennedy, head of Lucasfilm ever since Disney bought the company from George Lucas in 2012, has now hinted at some projects involving "Rey" (Daisy Ridley), "Finn" (John Boyega) and "Poe" (Oscar Isaac).

Kennedy spoke to the L.A. Times recently and said that there are no plans to abandon the characters that have been embraced by so many Star Wars fans all over the world.

From the article: "Kennedy said she plans to make key decisions about the direction of the franchise in the coming weeks. But some things she already knows. While the "Skywalker" saga is ending, the company won't abandon the characters created in the most recent trilogy."

It might not be the end for "Rey" after The Rise of Skywalker

So, it really sounds like The Rise of Skywalker will not be the end of "Rey" and the other characters and we might even see them in an upcoming TV show.

It seems likely, seeing how there are (at least) two more Disney+ shows currently in the works, one about "Obi-Wan Kenobi" (with Ewan McGregor starring) and the other about Rogue One's "Cassian Andor", played by Diego Luna.

For now, we will just have to wait and see how the popular characters do in The Rise of Skywalker, which will be released on December 20th 2019.
