Sophia Bush is looking back on her One Tree Hill days with mixed emotions! While talking to the podcast Chicks in the Office, the actress— who played "Brooke Davis" on the teen drama— was candid about why life on set wasn't always the easiest.

Bush says she and her castmates "felt like little kids" while on set

Bush called the experience of starring on One Tree Hill "actually kind of scary and intimidating and confusing." She explained that she and her co-stars "were treated like adults," and made to feel like they "were supposed to know everything," despite a lack of guidance.

The actress said that despite being "in our early 20s playing high school kids," the show's stars actually "felt like little kids" when they were on set. She shared they were often unsure of things such as technical cues, and didn't realize they were being taken advantage of. "When we look back now, we realize how young we were and how naive we were," Bush said.

Bush reveals One Tree Hill execs worried stars would ask for raise

Bush also commented on how she and her castmates "were also looked at kind of as pawns" by the grown-ups in charge of One Tree Hill. During her podcast interview, she said the higher-ups were "really controlling and manipulative" in hindsight. She even recounted how they had been worried the young stars "would band together and ask for more money."

Her time on set wasn't an entirely negative experience for Bush though. She characterized it as having "so much joy and so much confusion all existing at the same time," before going on to explain what an ideal set environment would look like for her. "I want sets that I work on to be places that people can ask any question and get it answered," she shared.
