Is That "Yoda" Or "Baby Yoda" On 'The Mandalorian'?
The Mandalorian, "Baby Yoda," and Disney+ have all been hot topics ever since the Star Wars series began in late 2019. The fan base is especially fond of the little green guy, also known as "The Child," who has melted many hearts on the show. But is the Mandalorian character actually the "Yoda" that Star Wars fans know and love? Or is it a "Baby Yoda" or something else entirely? Find out everything about the character and his name in season 2 here.
On The Mandalorian, a character resembling "Yoda" has raised questions for viewers of the Star Wars series. But is the character—commonly called "Baby Yoda" online—really a younger version of the well-known Jedi master? Here's the truth about "Baby Yoda," also known as "The Child" and by another name in season 2 of The Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian: Is that "Yoda" as a baby on Disney+?
"Baby Yoda," a.k.a. "The Child" on The Mandalorian, is much smaller and cuter than the original "Yoda" we've all known for decades now. And indeed: "Baby Yoda" is not a younger version of the famous Jedi master. The truth is that "Baby Yoda" just comes from the same species as the Star Wars character.
As Mandalorian viewers and Star Wars diehards know, it can't be an infant "Yoda" because the series takes place five years after The Return of the Jedi (1983) ended the original trilogy. At this point in the timeline, the original "Yoda" is no longer living.
Name of "Baby Yoda" a.k.a. "The Child" revealed in season 2
Season 2 of the series is now airing on Disney+ and "The Child" also finally has a name: "Grogu." A little less cute than "Baby Yoda" perhaps, but that was only a fan name to begin with. And fans are still raving about the little guy in the newest episodes.
Still, Jon Favreau, who created the Disney+ series, has neither confirmed nor denied if the little "Yoda" lookalike has any connection to the original character. Prior to season 2, we also saw alternate design concepts for the character — some of which were... a little unsettling.
