The "Bartlet" administration is returning to office ahead of the 2020 election.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed that the cast and creators of The West Wing will reunite for a stage production of season 3 episode "Hartsfield's Landing." The hit NBC political drama concluded in 2006, and, for the special, the show's original cast will reunite for the first time in 17 years.

West Wing cast reunion happening in 2020

The West Wing special will premiere on HBO Max at a yet-undetermined date, but it will shoot in October, according to THR. The production is a benefit for When We All Vote, a nonprofit that encourages voter participation — so it appears safe to assume that the reunion will hit HBO Max ahead of Election Day 2020.

Cast members confirmed for the restaging of "Hartsfield's Landing" include Martin Sheen, Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, and Bradley Whitford. Series creator and writer Aaron Sorkin and director and producer Thomas Schlamme will additionally collaborate on the HBO Max production.

The reunion episode, "Hartsfield's Landing," originally covered a presidential primary vote in The West Wing season 3 (in 2002). Sheen's "President Bartlet" faces off in chess matches with "Sam" and "Toby," while "Charlie" and "C.J." play pranks on one another in the episode.

Per THR, the special will shoot in October at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, with careful attention to COVID-19 production guidelines. HBO Max acquired the special, titled A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote.

The West Wing aired on NBC for sevens seasons between 1999 and 2006. Commonly referenced as one of TV's best-written dramas, it followed the fictional administration of "President Josiah Bartlet." The original cast remained intact until the departure of Rob Lowe in season 4.
