These Sitcoms Will Never Go Out Of Style
There are a variety of comedy shows on television. Sketch comedy is where the cast performs as new characters in every scene. Stand-up is where one comedian stands before an audience and tells stories or jokes. Then there is the sitcom, where a mostly reoccurring set of characters encounter daily humorous experiences.
Do you know what the very first situational comedy was on TV? It was called Mary Kay and Johnny and was broadcast live between 1947 and 1950. Even though TV ratings weren't monitored until just after the show ended, Mary Kay and Johnny had a large viewership because there was a very successful free giveaway via a commercial that aired during the program.
Despite being the first sitcom and even though it was popular, its live broadcast meant that it wasn't recorded and so finding an episode these days is hard. To hear about timeless sitcoms that will probably never go away, please watch the video above.
