Johnny Galecki, who starred as "Russel 'Rusty' Griswold" in the 1989 hit comedy National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, is returning to the popular franchise - but this time as a creator and producer.

The actor, who most recently starred on The Big Bang Theory for 12 years, is in early development for a spin-off TV series for the new streaming service HBO Max.

The service is supposedly set to launch in the United States in February and will also be the new exclusive home for Galecki's former show The Big Bang Theory, which ended after 12 seasons earlier this year.

The working title for the new show is The Griswolds and it will, according to EW, focus on the family's everyday lives in the suburbs of modern-day Chicago. At this point, it is not clear if Galecki or any of his former co-stars like Chevy Chase, Juliette Lewis, Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid or Ed Helms will actually appear on the show.
