It appears that "Finn" will not be a part of any future Star Wars projects. The news comes after John Boyega addressed a future for the character he played in three Star Wars films between 2015 and 2019.

On July 17, the 28-year-old British actor shared to Instagram a photo of himself having returned to the set of Small Axe, an upcoming Amazon and BBC anthology miniseries. In the comment section of the post, he responded to fans who are yearning to see the popular actor make a return to Star Wars.

John Boyega on Star Wars future: "I've moved on"

Boyega, who portrayed "Finn / FN-2187" in the franchise, still receives fanfare surrounding his best-known movie role. But this time, he sought to clarify fan expectations for the future of "Finn."

"Force Finn in action with Green lightsaber dressed in black is all I want from the next SW film!" commented one user on Boyega's Small Axe photo. To the fan, Boyega responded: "lol no thank you. I've moved on."

Although Boyega has offered mild criticism of the storyline in the trilogy he appeared in, his reasoning isn't related to any animosity or controversy. He made this clear when another Instagram user suggested that he "really just got those Disney bucks and dipped." Boyega clarified: "nope. Not into playing one role for too long. I have more to offer than that. That's all."

While Boyega may not have any Star Wars films on the horizon, he does still have a voice role as "Finn" in the upcoming Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video game. Otherwise, in addition to Small Axe, the actor will appear in titles including Naked Singularity, Rebel Ridge, and Borderland, all of which are in pre- or post-production.

Boyega is also an advocate for the Black Lives Matter movement, having delivered a passionate speech at Hyde Park in May, in addition to speaking out against racism in online spaces on his social media pages.
