- Princess of Wales cancels her participation
- Royal Ascot without Kate
- What is the reason?
Kensington Palace announced that Princess Kate would not be attending the Royal Ascot. This may come as a surprise to many fans, as she was originally on the coach list for Wednesday's event. Now Kate is staying away from the important event after all, as the 'Express' reports.
Princess of Wales cancels her participation
The Princess's decision not to attend Royal Ascot has caused some confusion. However, an official statement from Kensington Palace makes it clear that it is important to her to balance her public appearances.
This is part of her gradual return to royal duties after announcing her cancer remission earlier this year. More recently, she took part in the Trooping the Color event and performed solo at the East Storehouse.
King and Prince William in the first car
The updated carriage list for Royals Ascot shows that the King and Queen will ride in the first carriage along with the Prince of Wales and Prince Saud bin Khalid Al-Saud. This change followed the cancellation of the Princess, who was originally expected to ride in the second carriage.

The second carriage then accommodated the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Earl and Countess of Halifax. In the third carriage, author William Boyd and his wife Susan rode along with golfer Justin Rose and his wife Kate Phillips. In the fourth carriage, Lady Sarah Chatto, daughter of Princess Margaret, and her husband Daniel Chatto traveled with authors Robert Harris and Gill Hornby.
