Prince Harry is expected in Britain in July for a countdown event linked to the Invictus Games in Birmingham next year, but the visit may come without Meghan Markle and their children. According to Page Six, Harry wants to bring Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to England so they can spend time with King Charles. The bigger obstacle is security. His long-running dispute over protection in the UK has not been fully settled, leaving any family travel plans uncertain for now.
Prince Harry Plans July Invictus Games Visit
The Duke of Sussex is due to attend a “one-year-to-go” celebration for the games, scheduled for July 10 to 17, 2027. While the trip itself is moving ahead, no firm arrangements have been made for Meghan or the children to join him. That matters because Archie left the UK as a baby, while Lilibet has visited only once, during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. Harry has made clear that bringing them back depends on stronger security measures being approved before any travel is locked in.
Meghan Markle and the Children Face Security Barrier
The security issue has shaped Harry’s thinking for months. “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” he told the BBC. He has also said the loss of his legal challenge over protection left him “devastated.” Meghan has not returned to Britain since the queen’s funeral in 2022. For Harry, the concern is practical as much as personal: without armed protection, a family visit to see Charles appears difficult to arrange despite his wish to make it happen.
Prince William Still Not in Contact With Harry
Any hope of a broader royal reconciliation appears limited by Harry’s frozen relationship with Prince William. The brothers have not seen each other since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. Reports that Harry does not have William’s phone number were dismissed, but that has not changed the distance between them. Harry was also absent from cousin Peter Phillips’ wedding to Harriet Sperling, where William attended with Catherine, Princess of Wales, and senior members of the family. The gap inside the family is still very real.
King Charles Meeting Has Yet to Be Set
Harry’s main personal goal appears to be time with his father. Both Archie and Lilibet have had very little contact with King Charles, and Harry wants to change that. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious,” Harry told the BBC. Even so, there is still no agreed date for a meeting during the July trip. He last saw Charles in London in September 2025, and for now, any reunion depends on timing, security and family willingness.
