Prince Harry has said he will “always be a part of the royal family” during a rare interview in Ukraine, six years after stepping back from royal duties in Britain. According to Hello Magazine, the Duke of Sussex made the comment while speaking to ITV News during his visit to the country. The 41-year-old royal also pushed back when asked about the phrase “not a working royal,” giving a blunt response that adds fresh attention to his current role, public voice and continuing ties to the monarchy.

The duke spoke directly about identity, duty and family during the exchange with royal editor Chris Ship. “I will always be part of the royal family and I'm here working, doing the very thing I was born to do and I enjoy doing it. I enjoy being able to do these trips and support the people that I've met before and the friends that I've made,” Harry told ITV News. He was also asked whether he felt the “shackles” were off, and spoke about feeling “gagged” when it comes to speaking openly in today’s world.

He last saw his father in September, while the distance with his older brother has continued for years.
