On February 7, 2025, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden welcomed their fourth child. The birth took place at Danderyds Hospital, with Prince Carl Philip present to support his wife.
"We are happy to welcome our newborn daughter. The big brothers are now looking forward to meeting their new little sister," Carl Philip shared in an official statement.
King Carl Gustaf announces the baby's name
In Sweden, it is a tradition for the monarch to announce the name of a newborn royal family member. On February 10, King Carl Gustaf revealed the name of the little princess: Ines Marie Lilian Silvia.
"A child has been born, but at the same time, Sweden is mourning after the atrocity in Örebro last week. Light meets darkness," the king remarked during the announcement. The newborn princess has also been granted the title Duchess of Västerbotten.
