The King and Queen are set to embark on a state visit to Italy and Vatican City this spring, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace. The royal couple will engage in various activities in Rome and Ravenna, with the visit aligning with their 20th wedding anniversary on April 9. The trip underscores the robust bilateral relationship between Italy and the UK, as emphasized by the palace. Additionally, Their Majesties will meet Pope Francis at the Holy See, marking the 2025 Jubilee Year, a significant event for the Catholic Church.
Celebration of slow food and fashion
Before their Italian journey, Charles and Camilla will host a dinner at Highgrove alongside the Italian Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Inigo Lambertini, and Italian-American actor Stanley Tucci. This event will celebrate the Slow Food and Slow Fashion movements. Originating in Rome in 1986, Slow Food advocates for good, clean, and fair food for everyone. Slow Fashion, meanwhile, encourages the purchase of fewer, high-quality items that last longer. The dinner menu, crafted by renowned Chef Francesco Mazzei, draws inspiration from Stanley Tucci, host of 'Tucci - The Heart of Italy.'
