"27 Club": Famous People Who Died At The Same Age

They were some of the greatest artists in history, but their talent is not the only thing they have in common. Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, Anton Yelchin and many more gifted musicians and actors died when they were just twenty-seven years old.

Jimi Hendrix back in 1970. He is still considered one of the most gifted guitar players of all time. Rock musician Jimi Hendrix died in September of 1970. Like too many musicians before him, he lost his grip on reality and succumbed to a heavy drug addiction... He died at the age of 27.

Amy Winehouse was a fabulous singer and won many well-deserved awards. She died in 2011 at just twenty-seven years old from alcohol poisoning. She became a worldwide phenomenon when she released her second album 'Back to Black'.

Kurt Cobain left behind a letter saying, "it is better to burn out than to fade away". He committed suicide when he was 27 years old.

Lead guitarist Brian Jones was one of the founders of the Rolling Stones. Brian died in his own swimming pool in 1969. The official cause of death was "death by drowning".

However, there are still rumours circulating today that Jones was killed by the construction worker Frank Thorogood. He was in Jones's swimming pool with him just before he died and was the last person to see the musician alive...

'Star Trek' actor Anton Yeltsin died on June 19th, 2016. He was only twenty-seven years old. He was crushed by his car which accidentally rolled back towards him in his steep driveway....

The LAPD declared the official cause of death to be "suffocation" in a statement to the "Los Angeles Times". Anton Yelchin's car was so heavy that he could not breathe due to his lungs being crushed.

Janis Joplin was an iconic figure of the Hippie era and its culture. She died in October 1970 from a heroin overdose. After her death, Joplin left all of her money to her fans, and on the streets of Haight Ashbury in San Fransisco, her closest friends took bags of money and showered the streets in her honour.

Jim Morrison was 'The Doors'' front man and died in July 1971 at just twenty-seven years old. He suffered from severe asthma, but snorted heroin, which is a pain killer and cough suppressant. Officially, it was declared that he died from a heart attack. A post-mortem was not carried out, but it has been rumored that he died from a heroin overdose.
