Lucille Ball's heartbreaking goodbye

I Love Lucy was on everyone's TV when it aired, and just like on the small screen, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were truly in love! The two were married for 20 years, before calling it quits in 1960, but their daughter, Lucie Arnaz, said they were always connected.

In a new Amazon Prime documentary, Lucie details moments from her childhood and remembers her parents fondly. In one moment, Lucie shares her father's last moments before his death from lung cancer at 69 in December of 1986.

While on his hospital bed, Desi had an opportunity to talk with his ex-wife, and Lucie told People she could clearly hear her mother on the phone getting emotional.

"I could hear her say, 'I love you,'" she said. "She said it five times in a row. And he was nodding and saying, 'I love you too, honey.'"

If that wasn't enough to make you cry, Lucie then reveals that her father not only died within the next two days but that they actually spoke for the last time on a special day for them.

"He died in my arms," she said. "None of us realized it at the time, but the day they last spoke was Nov. 30, their wedding anniversary."

Lucie also shared that she felt like the two did the show to save their marriage since Desi was always on the road.

"They did the show so they could be together because my dad was always on the road and they never saw each other," she said. "So my parents thought, 'Well, this is going to save our marriage, and we can have a family.'"

Lucy and Desi will premier on Amazon Prime, March 4.
