A Twitter storm on Sunday

This past weekend has been one wild ride of the cast of Riverdale. On Sunday, AJ Kapa, Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, and Vanessa Morgan were all accused by an anonymous Twitter user of sexual assault.

In now-deleted tweets, an anonymous user claimed that while at an NYU party, Cole Sprouse and his cast-mates sexually assaulted them, to which sent the Riverdale actor to fire back.

Sprouse said that he and his cast-mates were "falsely accused", and that he takes the allegations "very seriously".

"Earlier today myself and three other cast-mates were falsely accused of sexual offense by anonymous accounts on Twitter. I take these accusations very seriously, and will be working with the right teams to get to the root of it," he said.

Reinhart also took to Twitter to deny the allegations saying that while she always takes sexual assault allegations very seriously, falsely accusing someone can "ruin lives".

"I can’t think of something more twisted than lying about sexual assault. It invalidates the men and women who are brave enough to come forward with the truth," she wrote.

She continued in another Tweet, "I hope and pray that this does not discourage real survivors from speaking out about their experiences."

After all of those responses, it was later confirmed by the same Twitter user that did start the rumours that it was all false.

"Do you see how easy it is to lie and you guys will believe it? Vanessa Morgan and Kj Apa didn’t do jack s--t. You will believe anything," they said.

Without making an official statement, the Riverdale cast will be getting to the bottom of who started the rumours and will be taking legal action.
