Cate Blanchett has some choice words for the world, as she criticizes the way countries are handling the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Stepping out onto the 2020 Venice Film Festival red carpet in a medical mask and Armani jumpsuit, the actress looked stunning, despite being disgruntled with the response to the pandemic.

Cate Blanchett voices her opinion

Being a member of the Jury for the 2020 Venice Film Festival, Cate Blanchett had important work ahead of her, but that didn't stop the iconic actress from voicing her opinion regarding the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

"Uncle Economy seems to be the most important member of the family," she said to reporters on the red carpet, according to ET. "I find it bizarre that the World Health Organization is not being allowed to lead this global challenge."

The star continued, "I think we're a very strange species that we don’t learn by the painful examples, for example, the terrible stress that Italy was under and when it reached other countries they didn’t learn a painful lesson."

"The way things were handled and the challenges those countries that were first hit and what they faced and what other countries could perhaps prepare for. It’s a very strange thing that I still don’t quite understand, that we behave in quite obtuse and fragmented and destructive ways," she added.

Blanchett is a member of the VFF, but this year is acting as the Jury President. The star was later spotted on the red carpet socially distancing and wearing a surgical mask.
